No outside without inside
Inside and outside relate to and involve each other. This special technique to manufacture these sculptures makes it possible to create the illusion of a solid surface. Only held from the inside the paper can take almost every shapes.
I’m interested in the transformation of materials and their special qualities. The typical image of a one-dimensional, rectangular sheet of paper contrasts with the organic shape of the sculptures which seem to be shaped like pebbles through their surrounding. One sculpture shows various shades because of the three-dimensionality and offer us a variety of gradations within one world of colour. Grinding and the quality of the paper lets the surface become velvety and the inside turns outwards.
